How are Manchester United slowly but surely falling behind Brighton & Hove Albion?
Continue readingTottenham Hotspur, one of the oldest football clubs in the world, achieved their highest Champions League place finish in last season’s campaign, runners up to Liverpool. Before this, their biggest achievement was a semi-final knock out in the 1961/62 European Cup. More recently, however, a quarter final knock-out at the hands of Real Madrid in 2011 was the furthest they had ventured. History does not mean anything, however, as, Frustratingly for them, their opponent, 10 year old RB Leipzig maybe already look like the favourites. As Dewey from Malcolm in the Middle famously said, “the future is now, old man.”
Continue readingLast season’s record breaking Premier League winners finished the year in third place. Manchester City sit 14 points off of the leaders, having already lost more games this season than they did in the year prior. With the league firmly lost, a Champions League trophy would be one of the better consolations. Real Madrid, however, ended their year just two points off Barcelona. The Cristiano Ronaldo chapter appears to have finally ended and Zinedine Zidane can begin working towards a prosperous future. In their competition, Madrid face a team that will leave everything on the field.
